The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Skaggs Pharmacy Institute in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor. We welcome talented applicants (PhD, MD, MD/PhD, PharmD) with the potential to develop an outstanding research program (assistant professor) or with an established, outstanding extramurally funded research program (associate professor) in mechanistic or translational Pharmacology or Toxicology. We particularly seek investigators involved in cross-cutting research in genetics/genomics/precision medicine related to pulmonary disorders and diseases; neurological, cardiovascular, and/or metabolic and inflammatory disorders, and cancer. For at least one of the positions, we seek an individual who can align with and complement the expertise available in the Center for Human Toxicology (http://pharmacy.utah.edu/cht/). In addition to research credentials, candidates must have a record of excellence in teaching graduate and professional pharmacy/medical students (associate professor) or present evidence of strong potential to achieve excellence in teaching in graduate and professional curricula (assistant professor). Candidates also should have strong interpersonal skills and evidence of effective leadership commensurate with rank.
College of Pharmacy faculty are an integral component of Utah’s Health Sciences Center, and provide unique strengths in the areas of new medication discovery, formulation and delivery; innovative therapeutic approaches; and critical assessment of outcomes associated with therapeutic treatments. Notable strengths and opportunities for synergy within the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology include the Center for Human Toxicology; programs in environmental toxicology, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and bioanalysis; natural products research focusing on anti-infective and analgesic drug discovery; cell signaling and cancer; neurosciences; and the Anticonvulsant Drug Development program.
