Associate Chief for Research – Division of Geriatrics & Aging
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Division of Geriatrics & Aging is conducting a national search for an Associate Chief for Research to build a robust interdisciplinary program of study that spans the Division and links it to related centers of academic excellence across the University.
The UR Division of Geriatrics & Aging serves as the academic home to 44 interdisciplinary geriatric faculty spanning the entire health care continuum including primary care, acute and post-acute care, home care, hospice, palliative care, and long-term care. We are a recognized national leader in geriatric education and pioneered many innovative approaches to geriatric care including the geriatric fracture center model of co-managed care. The Division of Geriatrics & Aging research includes health services, clinical care and interdisciplinary training initiatives. The Division has successfully received support from the NIH/NIA, VA, HRSA, John A Hartford Foundation, Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and American Federation for Aging Research. The Division has a strong affiliation with other UR programs, most notably nursing, psychiatry, psychology, public health sciences, developmental disabilities, neurology, orthopedics and oncology. The University-wide commitment to aging research includes the Office for Aging Research and Health Services (OARHS) and Rochester Aging Research (RoAR) Center.
The individual filling this position will be mid-career to senior level PhD, MD or MD PhD with a demonstrated commitment to a research career in aging or an aging-related discipline (e.g., pre-clinical science, gerontology, geriatrics, neurobiology, neuropsychology, behavioral science, health services research, epidemiology, psychiatry, neurology, palliative care). She or he must have a clearly established track record of research publications, extramural funding, and successful mentorship of early career scholars. Funds to recruit additional investigators to the Division will be available.
