Postdoctoral Position in Pharmacology / Basic Neuroscience

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Preclinical Pharmacology Laboratory at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School to investigate the effects of abused drugs and potential pharmacotherapies for drug abuse. Several projects are available for study:
1) Identifying mechanisms that underlie differences between synthetic and phyto-cannabinoids.
2) Characterizing the capacity of novel compounds to selectively disrupt self-administration of abused drugs without other behavioral consequences.
3) Evaluating various approaches to increase the therapeutic benefits of opioid drugs without increasing their abuse liability.
Recent Ph.D. with a relevant background either in pharmacology, neuroscience, psychology, or physiology.
Successful track record of publishing and experience working with awake animals.
The candidate will be proposed for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at HMS. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension.
