Tenet Healthcare seeks a National Nurse Director, Surgical & Procedural Services. This is a remote based position, based anywhere in the USA and preferably within a Tenet market, and will require national travel of up to 75%.
The successful candidate will be a senior-level nursing leader with significant experience in surgical & procedural clinical and operational services and national standards of practice. Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Practice Performance and Labor, Patient Care Services, this position will serve as the National Clinical Practice Director for Surgical & Procedural Services for Tenet Healthcare. This position will be responsible for functioning as the enterprise director of surgical and procedural services, providing subject matter expertise of the clinical, operational and strategic development of the surgical & procedural service line with an emphasis on driving improvements in the practice of surgical & procedural services nursing. Responsibilities include development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of best practices and processes for patient safety, quality, service and staffing.
The surgical & procedural services director will perform on site assessments across the enterprise of related functional areas within the surgical & procedural to evaluate nursing practice, staff competencies and skills, patient safety, staffing effectiveness, operational throughput, and standardization of processes and procedures. Improvements and standardized processes will be implemented through creation and revision of standard work, procedures and policies as appropriate. Evidence based best practices will be implemented through effectively leading and managing change in a complex and demanding environment.
Other focus areas:
â�¢Provide direction and evaluation of surgical & procedural services staffing for optimal clinical effectiveness and efficient fiscal management
â�¢Serve as an educational resource in surgical & procedural to include evaluating educational needs, platform, content, ongoing skill competency training
â�¢Provide direction, implementation and evaluation of quality measures, safety bundles of care, innovative practice standards
â�¢Chair Surgical & Procedural Clinical Practice Steering Committee
â�¢Understand regulatory compliance in surgical & procedural services area
â�¢Ensure standard work in the enterprise through implementation of Tenet service line playbook.
Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
â�¢Identify process breakdowns and inefficiencies of practice
â�¢Gain consensus on baseline performance with hospital executives and departmental leadership
â�¢Evaluation of current hospital based surgical & procedural services leadership and structure
â�¢Establish achievable goals with surgical & procedural services leadership
â�¢Develop action plan(s) with associated communication plan(s) PRN
â�¢Create implementation plans with identified ownership and associated timing of goal measurement
â�¢Evaluate standard work processes implemented and makes adjustments as needed
â�¢Ensure transition to hospital ownership of process improvement activities
â�¢Monitor metrics trending on regularly occurring basis and work with hospitals to identify actions to address stalled or sub-standard performance
Education: Required: BSN and one of the following advanced (or other related) degrees-- MBA/MSN/MHA/M.Ed.
Work Experience: Will have 7 to 10 years management experience within surgical & procedural services. Will have held at minimum a mid-level administrative or higher position (e.g., manager, supervisor, director, assistant director) for a minimum of 24 months. Prefered Project management experience, analytical skills including ability to manipulate and analyze data, use of Excel, PowerPoint, and presentation skills.
Certification: Preferred- certification in surgical & procedural services, advanced certification as a nurse executive.
Required Licensure: Hold current RN license.
