The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology (https://pharmtox.uams.edu/) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Highly qualified applicants for the rank of Associate Professor will also be considered. UAMS is located in beautiful Little Rock, Arkansas, and is the state’s only academic medical center and home to the recently renewed NIH-funded Translational Research Institute. This position will include a competitive start-up package, salary, benefits, and incentive plan based on extramural funding status. We are seeking an outstanding investigator who will establish a competitive research program in the area of cardiovascular and/or renal disease, with potential areas of expertise to include (but not limited to) drug discovery, cell death, mitochondrial and oxidative injury, animal models of disease, and high-resolution imaging. This individual will join a collaborative group of highly productive faculty members focused in areas including drugs of abuse, behavioral pharmacology, cancer biology, neuropharmacology, and cardiorenal pharmacology. Faculty in the department are expected to maintain an extramurally funded research program and contribute to the teaching and training of graduate and medical students. The applicant will have the opportunity to affiliate with two NIH-funded T32 training programs and one entrepreneurial-focused TL1 training program, which are directed by current department members. These programs can provide stipends for competitive trainees. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, postdoctoral experience, and documented research productivity. Preference will be given to applicants with records of high-impact publications, research funding, and teaching experience.
