The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) is currently seeking a postdoctoral Research Associate to work on NIH-funded projects in the Sonkusare Lab, that investigate the impairment of vascular ion channels and calcium signaling mechanisms in vascular disorders. The Sonkusare laboratory employs state-of-the-art calcium imaging, patch-clamp electrophysiology, pressure myography, radiotelemetric blood pressure measurements, and cell-specific knockout mouse models. The overarching goal of the laboratory is to discover novel strategies for rescuing endothelium-dependent vasodilation in vascular disorders including obesity and pulmonary hypertension.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. with a strong background in vascular physiology and molecular biology. The candidate should be highly motivated to develop new research avenues and should have excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in ion channel physiology, calcium imaging, pressure myography, and disease models is preferred. This position is renewed on a yearly basis and is contingent upon available funding. Eligibility for NIH post-doctoral fellowship is helpful, but not mandatory.
The incumbent will participate in a multiplicity of relevant lab projects and in writing study reports for the study sponsors, papers, and grant applications and is expected to develop research programs as time permits. The incumbent will also be expected to attend and participate in laboratory meetings and CVRC-related seminars, as well as work with graduate students, technicians, fellows, and collaborators in the laboratories involved in the project.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
Please contact Dr. Swapnil Sonkusare at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information about the position.
