The Benefits Sr. Specialist will work closely and report to the Senior Director of Benefits with primary responsibilities as the Subject Matter Expert on both health and insurance administration, and Benefits Financials. This role will serve as a primary resource of the benefits department to help support the strategy evaluation, implementation and overall management of large, complex benefit programs and vendors (such as Health & Welfare, Medical, Dental, Vision, Pharmacy, Voluntary and Additional Benefits).
In conjunction with the Senior Director of Benefits, other team members and with support of external suppliers, external consultants and internal staff, the Benefits Consultant will be involved in evaluating Tenetï¿½s health & welfare offerings, ensuring the plans and programs are administered in line with company policies, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Specifically, this position will collaborate with the Tenet Healthcare, USPI and Conifer Accounting teams to develop and monitor the Annual Operating Plan for the Enterprise U.S. Group Insurance budget and expenses.
Financial Accounting - Manage weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual cost accounting processes of all Health & Welfare related expenses including Chargebacks to facilities and the IBNR for Financial reporting. Manage the Annual Operating Process (AOP) for all Health & Welfare programs. Respond to financial related inquiries from hospitals, labor relations leadership and other corporate management regarding expenses and budget.
Coordination and Management of business analysis, score-carding/trends ï¿½ Experience with a multitude of standard and ad-hoc report analysis for carriers, actuaries, vendors and hospital and enterprise partners. Oversee, manage and review scorecards to identify drivers of medical trend to identify opportunities in price, utilization and care management programs.
Provide support for labor union requests including census files, cost analysis and preparation of any special reporting needs in additional to actuarial and audit support needs. Prepare modeling for hospitals and other enterprise areas such as acquisitions and divestitures.
Analyze current and historical claim/engagement costs. Using the knowledge to forecast future risks and opportunities to create, recommend and set strategy. Act in a consulting-type role to share this knowledge with internal leadership and accounting partners in order to identify the impact of business decisions and costs.
Mandatory Compliance Requirements ï¿½ Oversee, manage, and review with compliance requirements, such as IRS filings and Form 5500s, for Health & Welfare plans administered across multi payroll systems while having a great working relationship with internal and external audit partners and vendor support to include financial and SOX Control Reporting.
Union and Project Management ï¿½ Strong working relationship with cohesive collaboration with our vendor partners to address issues, discuss special projects, understand and respect historical experiences and be open to areas of future opportunity for plan and process improvements.
Understand all Health & Welfare policies and program guidelines to support successful management, execution and delivery of Tenet Healthcareï¿½s benefits, especially in conjunction with the labor team and union collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).

Bachelorï¿½s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management and/or Human Resources Management
3-5+ years of professional work experience with at least 1 year in Benefits/Total Rewards
3-5+ years of professional work experience with at least 2 years in Finance/Accounting
Ability to quickly identify, analyze and evaluate problems. Develop meaningful insights and recommend potential solutions
Very detail oriented and heavy analytical skills a must.

Strong ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects within deadlines required.
Advanced Excel required along with other MS Office Suite of applications knowledge
