This position is responsible for the strategic leadership, program development, finance and budgeting, program evaluation and integration of Pediatric Cancer, Blood, BMT and Precision Medicine Programs and Centers of Excellence. A primary responsibility is to elevate the national prominence of our programs and continue development of expanding services throughout referral areas. This position will partner with adult cancer services and the office of research ensuring full support and integration with the overall comprehensive cancer program strategy.
The position interacts with all levels of the organization throughout Intermountain. It will ensure integration of the programs across all facilities to deliver the highest quality at the lowest appropriate cost. This position will have budget accountability and is responsible for the strategic direction of Pediatric Cancer, Blood, BMT and Precision Medicine Programs.
System-wide Pediatric Cancer, Blood, BMT and Precision Medicine Programs and Centers of Excellence Operations Oversight Support mobilization of staff and activities to create and implement the strategic plan. This will include the development of work groups with facility, system and stakeholder representation and monitoring progress to achieve results; Design the care delivery model including seamless access and care across the continuum with the integration of clinical trials and precision medicine; Establish priorities and sequencing to fully implement the pediatric system model over a three-year period; Insure that program components, by dates to be set, meet a pediatric system standard such as following evidence-based guidelines, prospective disease-specific MDCs, navigation, access to clinical trials, access to genetics counseling as appropriate, psychosocial care, palliative care, transitions care, etc.; Work in coordination with Primary Children's, One Intermountain Pediatric, Intermountain Clinical Programs, Intermountain Shared Services, University of Utah Medical and community partners leadership to oversee operational performance and the implementation of the program model Collaborate with partners to establish best practice standards of care for pediatric patients and consistently deploy these standards. Physician Alignment Build and maintain effective relationships with the employed and affiliated specialty physicians to create strong physician alignment Provide input into physician therapy model's to support quality, safety, research, citizenship, financial, stewardship, etc. goals Support programs to coordinate relationships with Primary Care providers for risk assessment, prevention, early detection, diagnosis, symptom management, transitions and end of life care. Work in coordination with the UUMG, Intermountain Medical group and cancer/blood/BMT specialty physician group leadership Work with surgical partners to support the development of the model for care and a plan for its deployment across pediatric continuum. Patient Access and Patient Experience Develop a plan with staged implementation for improving patient access across to achieve timely access for appointments. Work in coordination with private practice physicians and Adult services as needed. Work with a workgroup to determine the best method (technology and staffing) for triaging patient calls in order to be competitive with best practices nationally and regionally. Set up systems to monitor the patient experience with metrics and support the implementation of programs to improve where needed. Explore technology solutions to increase patient engagement. Quality Management, Data reporting, Regulatory compliance Establish/enhance data collection to include realizing the full value of registry data, monitoring pathway compliance (when implemented), Oversee Pediatric Cancer, Blood, BMT and Precision Medicine Programs related accreditations Clinical Care and Research - Disease Site Expertise and Clinical Trials Work in collaboration with program Medical Director(s) to develop the model (including technology) for providing disease site physician expertise balancing geographic challenges. Work in collaboration with the program Medical Director(s) to oversee the delivery of cares involving clinical trials Develop recommended staffing plans for clinical operations (e.g. certifications) Support the clinical trials operation working in coordination with the Intermountain Office of Research, University of Utah, and a protocol priority review committee. This includes support for the development of the research vision. Oversee the research operation to insure it is aligned with the vision and meets regulatory, financial, patient research need goals. Support the plan and vision for integrating emerging medical trends into care delivery, including plans and mechanisms for engaging and supporting physicians and primary care physicians as appropriate Financial Oversight and Value-based Care Work with the facility, system and University of Utah financial staff to develop a standardized program financial report to be used for tracking trends with analysis by disease site and condition. Establish a program operations budget and monitor performance to targets. Marketing and Fund Raising Work with marketing staff to develop strategies to programs, particularly disease specific programs and to develop a branding strategy ( at the appropriate time) Work with development office to develop strategies for fund development for specific program components. Community Relationships: Development/enhancement of relationships with community organizations to support cancer patients. Participation in and support of ongoing staff linkages with these organizations. Oversight of patient and community education and screening programs Leads through setting vision and strategy, developing and supporting the implementation of shared goals and monitoring and evaluating outcomes. Develops and implements successful programs and strategies for a system-wide model, working collaboratively with system strategic partners to optimize the effectiveness of One Intermountain Pediatrics. Responsible for the effective financial and budget management for all areas within portfolio. Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the quality of services provided centrally in meeting the needs local teams. Provides reports on defined metrics of success to local leadership regularly assuring their understanding of value provided. Promotes the mission, vision and values of Intermountain Healthcare.
Master's degree in business or health related field, i.e. MBA, MHA, MSN, Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution and education will be verified.
Demonstrated professional progressive experience in healthcare delivery or healthcare management. - and - Experience in a role requiring strategic thinking and planning skills and the ability to develop proposals, pilots and projects from conception to implementation. - and - Experience in directing other clinical areas, working closely with physicians, and developing clinical strategies, implementing operational efforts and measuring outcomes. - and - Experience in program development within a large health system. - and - Experience achieving results in both line management and matrixed management environments. - and - Experience in a role requiring the financial dimension of management budgeting, financial monitoring and business development. - and - Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with all levels of an organization from executive leaders to frontline teams. - and - Experience in a role requiring skills related to balancing clinical, regulatory and financial goals and outcomes and collaborating with all levels within an organization.
