The Data Engineer is primarily responsible for participating in the design, development and implementation of solutions for the data warehouse. The primary focus of the data warehouse will include data and processes that support business operations including Scheduling, Registration, Charge Services/Revenue Integrity, Patient Accounting, and Financial Reporting. The position will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating systems and solutions based on revenue cycle and accounting business and end user needs. This person will also be responsible for establishing a standardized data collection approach for building the data warehouse by working with the vendor and business stakeholders. This position will be responsible for keeping close communication and alignment with the business needs and priorities by communicating constraints and technical challenges and difficulties in a timely manner.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Gather requirements and develop data integrations, data extracts and reports to meet these needs
Participate in process design and decisions to facilitate operations, revenue cycle and accounting data integration needs
Participates in unit and system testing and follow existing change control processes for promoting solutions to production system, escalating issues as needed.
Design, develop, review, test, and deploy SSIS/SSDT packages to facilitate the data warehouse solutions.
Design, develop, review, test and deploy SQL code, stored procedures, triggers and related components as needed to facilitate the data warehouse solutions.
Identifies data integrity issues and analyzes data and process flows for process improvement opportunities.
Monitoring system performance and evaluate query execution plans for improving overall system performance.
Perform production review of in-house written code and assist developers in optimization and troubleshooting.
Participate in troubleshooting and maintaining existing solutions as required.
College graduate with BA/BS degree or equivalent certifications and/or work experience
Prior experience with health information systems and/or patient financial service systems preferred
Strong SQL and relational database design/development skills
Development experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS/SSDT, and SSRS
Working knowledge of hospital information systems and understanding of health care system integration
Experience with cloud-based (GCP, Azure, AWS) data integration with SQL Server
Experience with Data Bricks is a bonus
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong interpersonal skills- ability to communicate with all levels of customers, vendors, and IT resources
Cerner, Meditech, CPSI, Allscripts, EPIC, McKesson, NextGen data integration experience a plus
