Candidates must have MD/DO degree, be board certified/eligible in Family Medicine, qualify for licensure in Alabama and medical staff privileges at Huntsville Hospital. Other requirements are proven clinical expertise, strong recommendations, and a love for teaching. A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment. The Huntsville Family Medicine Residency is a 12-12-12 Program and faculty supervise residents as they see patients at the Family Medicine Center, a Level II patient centered medical home. Faculty members will guide residents in deciding on appropriate diagnosis and plan of care for patients. Mentor residents and develop didactic presentations. Teach for the medical student FM clerkship, provide the required curriculum elements, develop lecture presentations, and evaluate residents and students on their performance. Serve on academic and clinical committees; present clinical vignettes or clinical research for publication or presentation at medical conferences; perform other scholarly activities; and when required, provide care for patients at other venues.
