Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital is seeking a passionate and innovative physician leader to serve as their next Chief Medical Officer/Vice President of Medical Affairs (CMO).
Located in a scenic neighborhood of Baltimore, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital (MWPH) is a 102-bed children’s hospital offering state-of-the-art post-acute care for children with complex health needs. Reporting to the President/Chief Executive Officer, Scott Klein, MD, MHSA, the CMO will work collaboratively to establish the overall direction and priorities for the hospital in enhancing the quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery. The CMO will lead clinical initiatives aimed at improving and expanding patient services, quality and safety outcomes, demonstrably improve physician alignment and satisfaction, and lead evidence-based programs, practices and activities that deliver quality, service and financial results. In addition to Quality, the CMO will be responsible for overseeing Health Equity, Respiratory Therapy, Psychology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory. In conjunction with the CEO, the CMO will also help identify new clinical programs that bring needed care to the community and enhance MWPH volume and financial status.
A successful candidate will have an intimate knowledge of complex pediatric care, children’s hospital operations, and the ability to build strong relationships with patients/families, physicians, and nursing professionals both at MWPH and its partner institutions. They should possess expertise across various pediatric specialties and demonstrate proficiency in navigating the complexities of a modern post-acute children’s healthcare system. As a forward-facing leader, they will approach their role with intentionality and leverage data analytics to drive meaningful changes in physician practice. Moreover, they will recognize the value of cultivating effective relationships with multiple partners and stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment.
The ideal candidate will be a visible, transparent and decisive leader and excellent communicator who is able to foster relationships and collaboration across the organization. The candidate must be a contemporary thinker, as well as skilled clinical operations leader. A Doctor of Medicine degree is required (MD/DO).
